Spring is Here and with it nature shows signs of renewal and growth.
Let's make this season a time for spiritual growth as well.
Psalm 92:12-15 states that it is God's design for His people to be fruitful. And Jesus taught in John 15 that Christians are to bear much fruit and fruit that lasts - this gives glory to God.
"Fruit" in the Bible is a general term describing all the positive effects that our faith should have. These include:
* Christlike character (the fruit of the Spirit, Gal. 5:22,23)
* good works (actions that flow from godly character, Col.1:10)
* positive results in our own lives (Jer.17:10;32:19)
* our spiritual influence on others (Romans 1:13).
Maybe it's time for us to do a "fruit inspection".
Does your life demonstrate the transforming work God is doing on the inside?
Is your character a reflection of Jesus?
Do you imitate His example in your actions?
Are the relationships and responsibilities in your life reflecting the positive results of such behavior?
And most critically, are you having a spiritual influence on people around you?
Are others drawing closer to God because of your witness?
Whatever the level of your fruitfulness right now - God has intends for you to bear "much fruit" and according to Is.37:31, the prerequisite to that is to develop deep, strong roots.
This spring, you can deepen your relationship with God by spending more time in His Word, by sitting at His feet and listening to His whispers, by responding to Him in love and by submitting to His work in you.
If you invest the time in growing sturdy roots, you will reap a rich harvest of fruit and bring glory to your Father in heaven!
