Exciting is not the word for what the Lord is doing at Midway! Our music program is growing faster than any other music programs I have ever seen! We are beginning a Men’s Worship team and soon we will be starting a women’s worship team! We are also in the process of beginning another Youth Worship Team in which we will be using one of our young people to lead as worship leader. God has given us so much talent! Our signup list for our men’s team already has nine guys signed up and almost all of them are not currently serving on any worship teams. We have some coming forward that play instruments! We have a drummer, guitars and bass guitar. I have been selecting music that glorifies God and we will have a variety of styles with most songs having a country flavor.

I know we have other singers and players out there! I am hoping that some of our lead guitarist that have played with other bands professionally will sign up! As you can tell, I am excited! I can’t wait to see what God is going to do here at Midway! As god gives us the ability we are expanding, learning and conquering! Pray for us as we work on getting the sound equipment needed for such a large music ministry. Pray for me as I learn and grow in the Lord. I am constantly listening to new music and working on my own musical abilities in order to stay ahead of the growing ministry! What a great problem to have. We now have 15 members on our full Worship team. Eleven of them sing and six of them play instruments on each song. We often perform songs in which every member is playing something! So, you can see to kind of work and effort that each one is committed to!
I thank God that he is growing so many of our members to be so dedicated to him! The truth is: it is our love for him that he is growing in us! We firmly teach and believe that Christians must be taught that our love for him produces work and not that work produces love or growth! To many times churches take someone through the prayer of salvation and then ask “How do you feel?” What happens is, they then base their security on how they feel! Salvation is never based on feeling! The next thing most churches do is to say “Great! Now you need to get to work!” I have never seen works produce growth! What I have seen are new Christians burnt out before they even get started! All Christians need to learn to love the Lord with all their hearts, souls mind and strength first! (Matt. 22:37)

That is what we are trying to accomplish each and every time we stand before the Lord in worship. Not only are we trying to grow our love for him but we want to communicate the love of God to those listening so they will experience this same relationship with him! Why do we praise and worship the Lord! For him! In his grace he gives us something in return! He gives us love, peace and joy! He does not have to do this, he wants to because he first loved us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us! (1 John 4: 19) Let’s take that and give it to others!
